Life at an infant's pace...

So we hit the two week milestone today -- and things continue to go well. Cillian is doing well -- still quiet and mellow although he we learned that bok choy and curries do not agree with him at all (in fact they led to his first real intense period of discomfort).
Right now he is just lying on the bed doing battle with hiccups. It's good to have him back to calm levels after the last day or so.

We are all still figuring each other out -- I have realised that over these few weeks, I just need to go with the pace of Cillian. There is not much point in trying to do anything else to be honest -- just sit back, enjoy the quieter time and not worry about much else. 15 minutes of watching him is far more valuable than anything else.

Cian is doing well too and settling in with the role of big brother -- so all told, things are pretty damn good right now.

Quick comparison

I couldn't resist doing this -- I had to do the early comparison.

Cian is on top and Cillian is below --- kind of similar, eh?

Jens Lehmann hands

Well -- April 16 at 7.47 AM saw the arrival of Cillian Emil McCann.

A shock of dark hair, big feet and hands like Jens Lehmann ("he's going to be a goalkeeper"). The first thing he did was yawn when he entered the world. It was a wonderful moment.
We made it through the first day very quietly and peacefully -- and he spent most of his first night wide awake (still very calm though).
He and his mother are doing really well.

So wherever you are, raise a glass to Cillian.
WELCOME!

The big arrival...

For those family members and friends who haven't seen Anne recently - here she is just last week.

We are counting down the days ... Actually we are now counting down the hours...

Spring

In preparation for the new baby arriving tomorrow, I am "cleaning out" the camera -- so here is a collection of photos that were on the camera

The "calm" before the storm....

Yeah, yeah -- it has been a while...

We have been busy getting ready for our big day next week -- when we expect the arrival of the new young one.
Keep your thoughts with us on Wednesday morning.

This week has been a good one -- we celebrated Cian's birthday yesterday. Thankfully the weather broke for us -- and we shook off the cold, wet April rains and the sun came shining through. It was great. We had a fun party with about a dozen kids running around outside here at the house.

For me, one of the interesting things was that we made it a "no present party". So it was just a good old fashioned get together. I wasn't sure if Cian was going to "expect" things from his friends -- but it never came up. They just played hard for two hours and then stuffed their faces full of chocolate cake. They had a blast.
Parties these days are over-engineered -- with kids expecting gift bags and presents just for coming to the party.
So for those thinking of doing this "no present party" -- do it! For us all -- for the kids -- for everyone. Make it about the fun -- not about gifts.

These last two weeks have also seen Cian start T-Ball. He has his first outing last week -- here are the highlights:
