Hannah Anderson would be proud

This is just one of those twisted moments in parenting -- dressing your kids up in the same clothes and then taking photos of them.

Cute but ouch.

And the ouch isn't only dedicated to the general nature of the photo but also if you look closely at Cian's face you can see the scars of a recent faceplant on the sidewalk/footpath. No it's not food leftovers.

Slideshow with even more (yikes!) is here

time to try out "real" food

At this point Cillian has decided to start trying food with those fine new teeth of his. It's pretty funny to see him in the high chair...

Recent Photos

These photos show a little bit of what has been going on recently -- tooth fairy visits, grandparent visits, rides at the amusement park. Enjoy!

A brief pause in our programming...

Wow! What just happened? After a hiatus of 4 months I *finally* get around to coming in and updating and I spend 15 minutes putting together a nice piece on our "battle with colic" and then when I save it the f***ing thing vanishes.
Is there a message in there or what?
I'll recreate the piece some time soon -- but for now here are some photos of our wonderful trip to Vancouver island, Canada which proved to be the turning point of our summer and helped us get our life back to some (temporary) sense of normalcy.
More on that later...

Bath Time!

April 30, 2008

Life at an infant's pace...

So we hit the two week milestone today -- and things continue to go well. Cillian is doing well -- still quiet and mellow although he we learned that bok choy and curries do not agree with him at all (in fact they led to his first real intense period of discomfort).
Right now he is just lying on the bed doing battle with hiccups. It's good to have him back to calm levels after the last day or so.

We are all still figuring each other out -- I have realised that over these few weeks, I just need to go with the pace of Cillian. There is not much point in trying to do anything else to be honest -- just sit back, enjoy the quieter time and not worry about much else. 15 minutes of watching him is far more valuable than anything else.

Cian is doing well too and settling in with the role of big brother -- so all told, things are pretty damn good right now.

Quick comparison

I couldn't resist doing this -- I had to do the early comparison.

Cian is on top and Cillian is below --- kind of similar, eh?

Jens Lehmann hands

Well -- April 16 at 7.47 AM saw the arrival of Cillian Emil McCann.

A shock of dark hair, big feet and hands like Jens Lehmann ("he's going to be a goalkeeper"). The first thing he did was yawn when he entered the world. It was a wonderful moment.
We made it through the first day very quietly and peacefully -- and he spent most of his first night wide awake (still very calm though).
He and his mother are doing really well.

So wherever you are, raise a glass to Cillian.
WELCOME!
