10 weeks of "life after intel"

Allright -- so it feels like it is time to come out of the proverbial closet.

I quit intel a little over ten weeks ago -- and what have I *really* been up to aside from all the important stuff:

  1. hanging out with Cian and Anne
  2. visiting the mountain for snow play
  3. hiking out the columbia river gorge
  4. hanging out in santa fe for a week
  5. watching Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back with Cian
  6. running out in the local forest (getting up to an hour a run now)
  7. finally updating this bleeding blog
  8. you get the picture....

I took the leap of faith from Intel so I could pause and generally slow down and see what else is out there.

So over the last while, I have managed to start up the shell of two businesses.
One is nua consulting -- which will be my "storefront" for my own consulting. Focusing on the HR & IT work I have been doing for too  so long.

A little more exciting (for me at least) is an outdoor adventure organization that will try to get Portland families and their kids outside into the wilderness. I could go on about this -- but I did that over at the blog for this new venture.
I have become more and more intrigued by the widening gap between kids and our local wilderness -- and want to try to give kids the opportunity to get dirty in the wild.

WILD is what we will call it -- Wildlife Introductions for Learning & Development.

I figured your list would at least make it to a Top 10 list of the liberties of 'un-jobbing'. But, I'll give you a break this time around. Seeing as though you posted this at 9 PM, I figure you needed your beauty sleep to gear up for planning the next WILD adventure.

As I've said in previous posts, you're an inspiration to all of us. We're starting to speak in terms of planning 'the Ronan'. Think you could market that?

wahoo....you are out and about doing your thing! that is great news. love the concept of the WILD biz. that's so much more u than the ole consulting crap :). so how about all the soccer the last 2 weeks....isn't it wonderful!!! guess what...we are going home this june and going to orlando in august...i took lessons from the master in vacation! can't say i never learned anything from you. cheers my friend.

k - I am really jealous now. Not only did you leave the hussle and bussle of Intel, you also did something more rewarding like start the WILD and spend more time with family. Way to go! I am taking scuba diving lessons in the cold atlantic ocean. We'll see where I take it...they teach even young kids, starting at 10 years old. Who knows, if I really like this scuba gig, I might just volunteer to teach the youngins' like me. :-) Enjoy the WILD and hope to see more updates from yah.
